La Division/The Divide
A bilingual community-based theatre piece about borders

Raven Theater, Healdsburg
The Divide/La División was our second community-based theatre piece which told the story of the life and death of a border in three movements. This piece, used film and live performance, history and current events to examine the concept of borders and crossing borders. The Divide was a bilingual piece created by an ensemble of community members (ages 11-65), facilitated and structured by the directors. We received assistance from the Healdsburg Day Labor Center, Programma Poder Popular, and the bilingual radio station KBBF.
This project was part of the countywide Performance Sonoma festival, coordinated by the Arts Council of Sonoma County and Community Foundation Sonoma County and funded by the Hewlett Foundation and the James Irvine Foundation.
