Hamlet; Ghost Machine takes place in the final moments of Hamlet’s life as he enacts, through echoes, repetitions, unfolding circles and patterns, his own rendition of the play The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. We, the audience, are nothing more than his vision but are implicated in this “image of a murder” all the same. In a setting that is equal parts Ellsinore, graveyard, morgue, and theatre Ghost Machine stretches Hamlet’s last breath, animates his final dream, and tracks the waning heartbeat of a man struggling for any last answers, illumination, and peace.

Conceived and performed by the Imaginists’ Brent Lindsay, this performance takes its text entirely from Shakespeare’s play in a ‘poem unlimited’ reconstruction.

Originally created in 2007 as a site specific piece for a slaughterhouse in Healdsburg, Hamlet; Ghost Machine has been performed over the last 3 years in selected site specific environments.

Seating is limited, please arrive at least 20 minutes early.  Door locks 5 minutes after show time, no admittance

Coming in April!

The Imaginists Theatre Collective Presents
Ensemble Arte Flamenco in
Siete Pajaros Del Prisma Del Romancero Gitano
de Federico Garcia Lorca

April 1, 2010 @ 8 p.m.

The ballads of Lorca from his Gypsy Ballad Book are admired throughout the Spanish speaking world. Composed by the poet to be heard more than to be read, they are ideal pieces for musical-dramatic treatment. In our program, each ballad is interpreted by a musical composition, followed by a dramatic interpretation in English and by a recitation in Spanish accompanied by the guitar. Our aim is to create an integral musical experience for voice and guitar accompaniment.

Mark Taylor's intimate acquaintance with Lorca’s ballads and his original compositions and traditional flamenco interpretations have made him the outstanding musical intepreter of García Lorca. Eliot Fintushel's vast talent as an actor, a mime and musician made his version of the Baudelaire poems from the Flower's of Evil a radiant experience. He brings to the Lorca poems the sensibility of an actor and a poet.

For Francisco Gaona, the study and performance of Lorca's work has been a lifetime pursuit. After directing musical and dance productions of Poema del Cante Jondo and Cantares, hdedicates this production of the Gypsy Ballads to all friends of the immortal Andalusian poet.
