Karna's
letter to the editor of the North
Bay Bohemian |
Editor:
Regarding your policy not to review youth theatre productions:
Being an actress myself, I feel strongly that theatre should be
explored in every way and by everyone. The stage holds many
possibilities, with an emphasis on risk taking. The plays being
reviewed do not take those risks, and you, being the alternative
newspaper for Sonoma County should review the alternative theatre, be
it children or adults.
It’s insulting to be discriminated against based merely on our age
rather then our performances. I understand that your standards are
high for your editorials but you should not judge something without
your own eyes seeing it first. For example, Santa Rosa High’s Art
Quest drama program performed Stage Door last December without any
mention. Also, the Imagination Foundation’s Teen Ensemble performed
their own original adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and Through the
Looking-Glass last January and Antigone in June of 2005.
As an avid reader of the once respectable Bohemian, I came across your
article on pick up lines and thought up one that you might enjoy:
age is just a number baby.
Thank you,
Karna Southall
Member of the I.F.’s Teen Ensemble
