“There’s not a movie in this town that can match the story I can tell” snaps Eddie in Sam Shepard’s tour de force in miniature. Set in a motel room on the edge of the Mojave Desert stories collides with all the promise and apocalypse of the mythic American West. The characters, lovers May and Eddie, the old man sipping whiskey in a rocking chair, and the new boyfriend, connect and fragment as the play avalanches towards its climax.
