We are committed to creating a yearly community-based theatre piece with our community and in partnership with other local non-profit organizations.
This yearly piece is an opportunity for members of our community to be directly involved in the process of creating theatre on a relevant theme or issue. Gathering together people of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures, with theatre professionals, we open dialogue with the entire community, encouraging creative voices, challenging stereotypes, and opening our minds and hearts to those in our own communities.
Community-based theatre is a movement with its roots in the history of American theatre. From the Federal Theatre Project and early regional theatre movement to the experimental and social theatre of the 60's the idea of a "people's theatre" has always influenced American artists.
